Seeds for Success Rooted at COD
01/05/2014 Successful Career In Landscaping Grew From Plant Design Course At CODScott Sohn wanted to be an architect. Little did he know when he enrolled in a plant design course at College of the Desert (COD) that his life and career path would be changed forever.
Following completion of the class, Scott switched his major from architecture to landscape design - and the rest is history. He credits COD Professor Michael Waitling as having the biggest influence during his time at the College. Soon after, he decided to put his education and training to work, started his own landscape business and earned his contractor’s license in 1984.
There is spectacular evidence of the success of Sohnco Landscape, Inc., throughout the desert and beyond. Scott’s professional accolades also demonstrate why his career switch was a wise move. He’s earned three “Best in Show” awards for his landscape designs by the California Landscape Contractors Association. In addition, Scott was recognized for excellence in landscaping with the Stuart J. Sperber Memorial Sweepstakes Award during the 2012 California Landscape Contractors Association convention.
