COD Alumna Colleen Walker Retires As Riverside County Undersheriff

COD Alumna is the Second Woman to Serve as Undersheriff Since the Department was Created in 1893

Newly retired Undersheriff Colleen Walker was recognized recently for her years of service and achievements by the Riverside County Supervisors. Undersheriff Colleen Walker is only the second woman to reach the rank of Undersheriff since the Department was created in 1893.

Undersheriff Walker is an alumnus of Indio High School and College of the Desert. She earned a B.S. degree from the University of Redlands and is a member of Women Leaders Forum, Women Peace Officers’ Association, College of the Desert Alumni Association, Desert Actors Network, and recently served on the board of The Valley Partnership for five years. In April, 2010 she was presented the “Gold Key” award by Soroptimist International.
Undersheriff Walker lives in Palm Desert with her husband, Wayne Walker, a retired lieutenant from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Dept. They have three adult children, and two grandchildren.
