Mark Nickerson - COD Foundation Board Member and President's Circle Donor

Mark is the Managing Partner of Prime Time International. Based in the Coachella Valley since 1997 (with roots dating to 1987), the company is the largest year-round grower, packer and shipper of multi-colored peppers in the United States. Known as The Pepper People, Mark and Prime Time are committed to delivering the highest quality and safest products available. Mark brings the same fervor and dedication he applies to his business to the COD Foundation where he has been a board member since 2006.

Mark was born in San Francisco, California and raised in Davis, California. He attended California State University Fresno, graduating with a degree in agribusiness/agronomy in 1969. In 1972 he went to work for Carl Sam Maggio at Maggio-Tostado. In 1975 Maggio-Tostado merged with Sun World International.

As Senior Vice President of Row Crop Production at Sun World, Mark oversaw all row crop farming, harvesting and packaging operations in the Coachella Valley, San Joaquin Valley, and Arizona. He left employment with Sun World in 1992.

Mark is a founding partner of Sun & Sands Enterprises, a company which began as a farming and real estate investment company based in the Coachella Valley. Its products were marketed under its sister-company C.H. Sales. In 1998 the two companies merged into a single unit doing business as Prime Time International in which Mark serves as a Managing Partner.

In 2006 Mark joined the Board of Directors at the College of the Desert Foundation and serves on the Nominating Committee. Since then Mark has been an active sponsor of many Foundation events and College campaigns, including: Man About Town; 2008 Grand Prix; 50th Anniversary Gala; Eastern Valley Campus Grand Opening celebration; One Enchanted Evening; the Auxiliary Chili Cook-Off; the Michele Gaines Fine Arts Scholarship; and naming an office in the Coeta & Donald Barker Foundation Nursing Complex. Additionally, Mark is an annual member in the President’s Circle and sponsor of the Foundation’s community outreach efforts at the COD Alumni Association Street Fair.

In addition to serving the COD Foundation, Mark is also on the Board of Directors of the Western Growers Association. He is a member of the Alpha Zeta honorary agriculture society, and an alumnus of California Agricultural Leadership program. He serves on the National Watermelon Promotion Advisory Board and the Imperial County Whitefly Management Committee. He has served as Chairman of the California Fresh Carrot Advisory Board and was president & co-founder of the Coachella Valley Corn Growers Cooperative and has been a board member for the Boys & Girls Club of Coachella Valley since 1982.
