Endowments are permanent funds in which the principal is held in perpetuity and only the investment income is expended annually (payout). Endowment gifts provide long-term sources of funding for the College. Funds support activities not just for one year, or even one generation, but forever.

An endowed fund is established through a minimum gift of cash or stock totaling $25,000, which can be made over a period of 5 years. Endowments can be very specifically focused or they can be generally designated for the most critical program or need. An endowment can be named in honor of an individual, colleague, or family member as well as an organization, foundation or corporation.

Getting Started

Memorial & Honorary Gifts A gift, in memory or in honor of a relative, friend, faculty member or student, is a generous and thoughtful way to recognize a person's life and accomplishments. When you make a memorial or honorary gift to College of the Desert Foundation, we notify the honoree or next of kin, and the gift is used as you specify. Send your gift with a note specifying the honoree's name, as well as the address of the honoree or next of kin.
Naming Opportunities Many opportunities exist to recognize you and your family for leaving a lasting legacy at College of the Desert. Some donors have entire buildings, wings of buildings, classrooms, and so on named after them.
