Stepping Out for COD Raises Over $500,000
To Support the Foundation’s Fund for Student Success

Over $500,000 was raised for COD Foundation’s Fund for Student Success! As the pandemic changed the world, many of our students were burdened financially, losing their jobs, housing, and financial security. As shown in the video above, students were faced with the reality of continuing their education or paying their rent, keeping the lights on, paying for gas, or purchasing groceries. Now our world is desperate for workers and these same students are navigating multiple jobs, inflation, and trying to make up two years of lost revenue, all while juggling childcare and trying to complete their education. The worst thing that can happen is if these students stop and drop out like the thousands of other community college students across the country.

Thanks to our donors’ generous support in 2020 and 2021, the Foundation was able to provide more than $400,000 in assistance to nearly 500 students, helping them during the pandemic to make ends meet during the two-year crisis.

Supporting the Fund for Student Success means that the Foundation can respond quickly to meet some of the most pressing initiatives and deliver valuable tools and resources to students so they can continue learning their trade, preparing for management level positions, and pursuing and completing the quality education that every student deserves. These funds can:

  • Support Our Student Emergency Funds
  • Purchase Textbooks and Resource Tools
  • Provide Meal Cards for Food Insecure Students
  • Purchase Regalia for Graduating Students
  • Provide Childcare Tuition and Services
  • Fund Veteran Support Services
  • And meet the basic needs of one of our most vulnerable populations, Foster Youth.

If you can just take a moment and think about the nurse who takes your blood pressure; the firefighters, EMTs, and officers who keep us safe; the chef at your favorite local restaurant; the technician who repairs your car… 80% are likely to be COD Alumni!

These students and graduates make an impact in all of our lives. They support the infrastructure of our communities and strengthen our local economies. We are proud supporters of COD. Our community college is a leading source of post-secondary education and job and career training in the region, graduating 125,000 alumni! Let’s celebrate that!
