Val Martinez Garcia Named Superintendent/President of College of the Desert

The College of the Desert Board of Trustees has selected Val Martinez Garcia as the college’s ninth Superintendent/President, following a majority vote in favor of his appointment during a special Board meeting on May 14.

Mr. Martinez Garcia has served in key leadership roles at the college, including Vice President of Instruction and Vice President of Student Services. He brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education and has led initiatives in student success, strategic planning, and campus development.

Contract details are currently being finalized and are expected to be presented for formal approval during the Board of Trustees meeting on Friday, May 16.
